Issue of New Passport - General Guidelines
(Time required : approx. 1 month as the passport is to be printed in India)

1)

Application for renewal (new booklet) of passport can be submitted Form1.doc if the remaining validity of the passport is less than one year. If a passport is renewed after one year from the date of its expiry, an affidavit (AFF 7.pdf) is to be filled and an additional fee of $10 is payable

The validity of a passport cannot be extended beyond the date of its final validity. An application for a new passport has to be submitted along with the old passport and copy of igama (Yemen Residence Permit).

An applicant has the option to apply for an ordinary passport booklet of 36 pages ($ 40) or a Jumbo passport booklet of 60 pages ($ 50) with a ten-year validity. The applicant has to indicate in big/bold letters on the first page of application, if he/she desired to have a Jumbo Passport Booklet (60 Pages).

A separate passport must be obtained by every individual including a new born child. A child's name can no longer be endorsed on a parent's passport.

The applicant should submit the application in person for identification or through an authorized representative.

 


6)

Two recent (not more than 6 months old) photographs of the size 4cmx4cm showing frontal view of full face in civilian clothes taken in a studio with a white/light background (Polaroid photographs, photographs with dark glasses or uniforms, photographs with dark background and scanned photographs are not accepted) should be submitted along with the application. One of the photographs should be secured with a clip and should not be stapled.

Documents in Arabic should be accompanied by typed English translation from authorized translator.

Supporting documents like marriage certificate, birth registration certificate, affidavits should have been pre-attested in India by the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi.

Applicants are advised to ensure that their application in the prescribed format is complete in all respects; that all columns are correctly and legibly filled up and no column is left blank, unfilled/unresponded to or vaguely filled with a dash, tick, etc. All signatures in the application should preferably be in black ink.

 


10)

It is an offence under the Passport Act, 1967 to furnish false information in the application. Passport facilities could be denied on grounds of suppression of material information, submission of incorrect particulars, willful damage/loss of passport or for unauthorised change/tampering. The Passport can be impounded or revoked for violation of one or more of the provisions of the Passport Act, 1967.

It is an offence to hold more than one valid passport at a time. Those Indian citizens acquiring citizenship/passport of another country should immediately surrender their Indian Passport to the nearest Indian Embassy/Consulate.

Requirements for submitting an Application for New Passport:-

· Original Passport (including subsequent additional booklets if any)

· New Passport form

· Two recent passport size photographs (one pasted on the application form and the other loosely clipped) showing full frontal view of the face against a plain, light background.

· If passport is renewed after 1 year from the date of expiry, an affidavit (AFF 7.pdf) is to be filled and additional fee of $10 /- is payable.

Passports for Minors (less than 18 years)
(Time required : approx. 1 month as the passport is to be printed in India)

13)

Minors are issued passports with a validity of 5 years or up to attaining 18 years, whichever is earlier. Passport applications should be signed by both parents. Minor should affix his/her signature or thumb impression in the “Signature Boxes”.
Note : THE CHILD SHOULD BE PHYSICALLY PRESENT IN THE REPUBLIC OF YEMEN AT THE TIME OF SEEKING THE PASSPORT SERVICE. Under no circumstances should the parents try to obtain passport service for a child who is not present in Yemen.

 


14)

Minors between the age of 15 and 18 have the option to apply for a full validity passport (ten years) by payment of fees as applicable for issue of passports to persons above 18 years of age.

 


15)

Requirements for submitting an Application for Renewal

(New Passport Booklet) for minor:-

· Original Passport (including subsequent additional booklets if any)

· New Passport form (Form1.doc) duly signed by both parents (Child should affix his/her signature or thumb impression in the “Signature Boxes”)

· Two recent passport size photographs (one pasted on the application form and the other loosely clipped) showing full frontal view of the face against a plain, light background

· Copy of igama (Yemen Residence Permit)

· If the existing passport has expired more than 1 year ago, an affidavit (AFF 7.pdf) is to be filled and additional fee of US$10/- is payable.

16)

Requirements for submitting an application for issue of separate Passport to a Minor Child whose name is presently included in mother's/father's passport:-

· Mother's/Father's passport in original

· Photocopy of the passport page where entry of the child's name exists

· New Passport form duly signed by both parents (Child should affix his/her signature or thumb impression in the “Signature Boxes”)

· 4 latest passport size photographs

· Affidavit of Parents for Separate Passport in Favour of Minor Child – Form 4A.doc (to be signed by both parents if residing in Yemen), or

· Affidavit (AFF 2.doc) signed by one parent if the other parent’s signature cannot be obtained, or  Affidavits (AFF 3A.doc & AFF 3B.doc) if one parent is a non-Indian.

Issue of Passport to a New-Born Child
and Birth Registration
(Time required.: approx. 1 month as the passport is to be printed in India)

Every child who is born to Indian parent(s) in Yemen is issued a separate Passport. It is not possible to include the child’s name in the Passport of mother or father.

 


18)

The birth of every child born in the Republic of Yemen to Indian parents is required to be registered with the Embassy of India, Sana’a. A Birth Certificate is issued by the Embassy to the child after registering his/her name as an Indian national. A separate Passport would be issued to the New Born thereafter.

 


19)

Requirements for Birth Registration & Separate Passport (BRSP) for Child:

· Original Birth certificate issued by the concerned authority in Yemen along with its English translation · Birth registration application form (Form 4.doc)

. New Passport form duly signed by both parents (Child's thumb impression should be affixed in the “Signature Boxes”)

· Father’s/Mother’s passport

· Photocopy of Father’s and Mother’s Passport

· Copy of marriage certificate if husband’s name is not included in wife’s passport and vice versa

· Two ( 2 ) passport size photographs of the child

· Affidavit of Parents for Separate Passport in Favour of Minor Child – Form4A.doc (to be signed by both parents if residing in Yemen), or

· Affidavit (AFF 2.doc) signed by one parent if the other parent’s signature cannot be obtained, or

· Affidavits (AFF 3A.doc & AFF 3B.doc) if one parent is a non-Indian

In case the validity of the lost/damaged passport has already expired, a new passport is issued on payment of normal fees of US $ 40 or US $ 50 only. However, all other requirements as listed in para 20 or 21, as the case may be, have to be completed in such cases also.

Requirements for issue of an Emergency Certificate for one-way travel to India in case of non-availability of a valid Passport with the applicant and where a new passport cannot be issued immediately:-

Requirements for attestation of Sponsorship Declaration:-

  1.  Photocopy of inside cover pages and other relevant pages of the passport.
  2.  Salary Certificate attested by Chamber of Commerce/Yemen Ministry of Foreign Affairs with typed English Translation.
  3.  Original and one photocopy of the Sponsorship Declaration Form (Format 1.pdf) to be signed before the Consular Officer of the Embassy.
Note: Sponsorship Declaration can be attested only in respect of the parents, spouse and children of the applicant.
 
     
     
     

 


*Note: All fees are to be paid in US Dollars in Cash at the Counter along with the application. Fees once paid are not refunded, even if the application is withdrawn or the service refused for whatever reason.
